Rutgers University - Camden: VMPA Internship Projects
Advertising Identity Systems
During my time at Rutgers University -Camden, I had the opportunity to work alongside the department heads as a part of a semester long internship to create advertisement systems for our events and programs.
I participated in this internship with three other design interns and with each project, we were competing against each other to get our designs selected to represent the school. I decided to embrace the theme of organic shapes throughout the semester. The designs I am showcasing were picked to showcase our events for the fall and spring semesters.
The Background
Art in itself is meant to be an organic form. It isn’t confined to a specific shape or style, art can be whatever you want it to be.
To represent the Pre-College Arts Program, I used this organic concept as a way to show art in its most pure and organic form. I wanted the poster to be engaging and hold a sense of interest, not drive viewers the way. To do this, I used cooler colors that were more pleasing to the eye in order to remain as calming as possible. In addition, I created each of these organic forms in Adobe Illustrator, crafting each one to have similar colors and shading. This was the result.
Pre-College Arts Program

To advertise the visual arts program at Rutgers University in Camden, I thought that having a visual artistic element to go along with it would be the best solution. Art can be very interactive, which is why I wanted this organic shape to flow throughout the pamphlet and interact with the type as a way to showcase that interactive nature in art. If you look, the pamphlet actually connects throughout the bi-fold, adding to the interactive gap. These forms were created using Adobe Illustrator.

Tying together the bridge between playfulness and sophistication was a goal with this design. I continued to play with the idea of abstract shapes, this time bringing in eye catching colors as a way to bring in that playfulness. In order to round out the brand, we were asked to make a website banner, social media post and a poster and postcard.
